After coming across this place on Google with 4.7 stars, I thought I wouldn’t have any issues but I was wrong….
All I needed was a seasonal tire change to swap out my winter tires for my summers. I stepped out and the presumable owner met me at my car, he immediately said “you should have two sets of rims for summers/winters as it impacts the tire lifespan and reduces it to around 2-3yrs”. ** Which is incorrect if the mechanics are properly removing and installing tires correctly. It was only AFTER he stated this that he proceeded to look at the condition of my tires and rims. He pointed out one rim that was moderately bent, which I was already aware of, but he told me it may be unsafe to drive. I asked if he would kindly take a closer look it by taking the tire off the damaged rim and look at the other rims to verify their condition. He took the car into the shop and after a few minutes he came back only to tell me that THREE of my rims were damaged. When I asked if I could see them myself, he said he didn’t take them off but they thought they were after ‘testing them’ but he’d go and take a closer look. He came back and said there was some dirt but the others are actually fine and it’s just the one. He gave me the option of putting the summer tire on the slightly bent rim but said I’d have to sign a waiver to confirm my decision to proceed as it may be “unsafe to drive”. Being a tire/rim auto shop, I asked if they could just fix the bent rim. He said it would cost $450 and couldn’t guarantee it would work as it has a high likelihood to “crack”.
After making the decision to put all four tires on the existing rims, he came out with a damaged tire where the inside had been ripped and claimed “this is what can happened when tires are seasonally changed onto the rims”. I had driven the car for 6-months on brand new winter tires that I got less than a year ago and had no leaks or issues throughout winter but they suddenly have a rip in them??? While I unfortunately can’t confirm this occurred during the service, I find it highly suspicious that my brand new tire, that I had no issues with all winter, now need to be repaired or replaced.
All to say, this experience from start to finish felt like an intimidation tactic to purchase rims I didn’t need.
